Now that you’ve maximized your website, added Google AdSense (optional AdWords), and added your affiliate marketing links how do you start getting that traffic?  This is where you will spend most of your time (the 2-3 hours per day I mentioned in the very beginning).

Email Distribution
If you haven’t already done so, send out an email to everyone in your email distribution list.  Modify your email signature to include your website address and even perhaps an affiliate link that you would like to promote.  So every time you send out an email, your info will be sent along with it.  This is not a HUGE traffic generator but every little bit will help.

Traffic Generating Websites
You can search on the internet for Traffic Generating websites.  Some of my favorite websites are:

bullet

Traffic4Your.com – this is a traffic program designed to get hits targeted to your site by obtaining credits.  I like this website because the owner is really nice and every once in a while he will randomly give out credits for free.  You can also buy credits fairly cheaply on this site.  I get most of my traffic from this website.

bullet

Link Referral - Some of you have already used link referral and noticed that everyone and their grandma are doing the same thing as you.  But that’s OK.  The purpose of link referral is not just for traffic but also to create reciprocal links; this is important as it well help increase your page rank (how high your website will rank in a search engine).  Understanding page rank is a little more convoluted and I do not want to put all that information here.  Just trust me when I say use link referral and get as many reviews as possible.  Get people to go to your site and click around.  It doesn’t matter that they do not purchase something from your store, but if they click a few ads, hey you just got paid for their visit!

bullet

TrafficSwarm – Similar to traffic4your.com however, it is more time consuming to auto-surf.  Your best bet with this one is to subscribe and become a paid member to really reap the benefits.

bullet

HitMajik – I just found this one, it seems pretty much the same like TrafficSwarm, it’s like once you see one you’ve seen them all LOL!

You can also do a Google search to find out more sites click here .
Just be careful how many traffic sites you’re signed up with because some of them require maintenance to keep your site in top rankings so it might be too much for you to maintain if you have too many.

Article Submissions
Article submission is also another way to get your website out on the web.  There are many, many  E-Zines that you can choose from. I have a list of over 30 of them.  If you wish to get a free copy just send me an email from my contact me page.  My favorite and most popular E-Zines are:

article-Buzz.com

newarticlesonline.com

Article Database

amazines.com

When you’re writing your article, normally there is a place where you can put information about the author.  Be sure to include your website in that area and feature it throughout the article.

Link Sharing Websites
Link sharing is another way to get traffic and to get reciprocal links on your website.  Remember I said that the more reciprocal links you have the better off you are, so make sure you get as many as you can.  Make sure that your website has a Link Page and add your links there.  I highly recommend Link2Me Link Exchange.  I’ve been receiving link requests daily from them.

You can also do a Google search to find out more websites offering this type of service, try to stick with the ones that offer the service for free

Blogs
Using a Blog is another way to get yourself on the web.  If you have a website you can create a blog for your visitors to read and post comments.  You can add links and promote your affiliate merchants here as well.  Make sure you put a link on your website that will take customers to your Blog.  When you use a Blog and create your message boards always include as much information and content as possible.  It is important that there is a link in your Blog back to your website.

MySpace
Did you know that
MySpace receives the MOST hits out of all the websites on the internet today?  There are millions of people that use MySpace and it is great way to advertise your business for FREE.  You can create a separate MySpace account just for your website and personalize it to the theme of your business.  Do not put any security restrictions on this account as you want everyone in the free world to add your MySpace page to their friends list.  This is also an easy way to announce specials or sales that you might be having, or to promote a specific product by posting a “bulletin”.  Once you post a bulletin it is added to everyone’s MySpace page that is on your friends list.  So if you have 50 people on your friends list and you want to promote a sale, simply type a bulletin, provide your links to the products or affiliate merchant and click “post” bulletin.  As easy is that you just sent a notice to 50 people!  In addition to bulletins you can also posts “blogs” whoa there is that word again!  The more content, links and advertising you have out there the better.  Don’t wait till people find you, spend time on MySpace inviting people to be on your friend’s list.  The more you have the better.  Back to our example for the Polka Dot Kidz, I would focus on females and women with kids.

You can also do this with
Yahoo360 – you have to have an email account setup with Yahoo in order to create a Yahoo360 page.  Yahoo360 is fairly new and it’s in the “testing” stages, it’s not as widely used and MySpace, but it I’m sure it will be!

Hard Copy Marketing
Lastly, but not least.  Now we’re going to go back to the stone age and make FLYERS!  Yes flyers, posters, business cards and the like.  All you need to do is pass them out everywhere you go.  Once again back to our example: Polka Dot Kids, target daycares, PTA meetings at your kid’s school, libraries, malls, doctor’s office, or even at your place of work.  Personally, I like to keep cards in my purse and pass them out.  You don’t even have to do a sales pitch if you meet someone you would like to give a card to, just make some small talk, if it’s a woman you’re talking to (always compliment them on something you noticed about them, her earrings, clothes, the color of her outfit or how cute her baby is) this always breaks the ice and then say “You know I’d like to give you my business card for my online Kids Clothing store”.  She will either say Yes or No, but most likely she will accept a business card from you.

You can order business cards fairly cheaply from Vista Print.
